Leave and absence

Reporting sick

If a student cannot come to school due to illness, you are kindly requested to report your child sick by telephone or e-mail before the start of lessons.

If your child has to go to the doctor, dentist or specialist for an appointment, please make an appointment after school. For this too, you can send an absence notification by e-mail or call the school.

Special leave

In principle, we do not give permission for special leave. We count on all parents to arrange their holidays within the set periods. It is not possible to obtain special leave for short holidays in between. The only exception is made for those parents who cannot use the established holidays due to the nature of their profession (e.g. hospitality or agriculture). In such cases, the school management may grant up to two weeks of special leave. However, this may never be the first two weeks of a school year.

There are a number of exceptions, also recognised by compulsory education. These include weddings, anniversaries and funerals. To qualify, leave must be requested. We recommend applying for leave at least six weeks before the desired starting date. We report unauthorised absence to the Compulsory Education Office of the municipality of Utrecht. For more information about special leave, please visit the website of Leerplicht Utrecht.

Ten days or less

Applications for additional leave of ten school days or less can be downloaded here .

More than ten days

If you want to request more than ten extra leave days, you can fill in the special leave form on the website of the municipality of Utrecht. Once completed, the form will be sent to Leerlingzaken, Utrecht municipality. The obligatory education officer will inquire about the director's opinion. The obligatory education officer will then decide on the application.
